What we measure.
And what we don't.

Short version, we place two kinds of storage. The strictly necessary kind that makes the site work, and Google Analytics, which only loads after you say yes. No advertising cookies, no data sold on.

Your choice

Analytics cookies:

Strictly necessary

These are needed for the site to function or to honour your own choices. They carry no consent requirement, and you cannot switch them off without breaking the site.

scoop-consentscoop (local storage)Remembers whether you allowed analytics, so we don't ask again on every page.until you clear it
NEXT_LOCALEscoopRemembers the language you picked in the switcher.1 year
locale-reviewscoopOnly set if you opened the site through a review link, to unlock a language that isn't published yet.60 days

Analytics, only with your consent

Google Analytics 4 tells us which pages get read and which get abandoned, so we can fix the second kind. It loads only after you accept, and refusing means nothing is requested from Google at all.

What a cookie is here

A cookie is a small file a site stores on your device so it can recognise something later, your language, or the fact that you already answered the cookie question. We also use local storage, which works the same way but stays in your browser instead of travelling with every request.

Under the Dutch Telecommunications Act we need your permission before placing anything that isn't strictly necessary. That's why the banner appears before Google Analytics does, not after.

How we handle consent

Until you decide, no analytics script is loaded and no request reaches Google. That's a deliberate choice: refusing shouldn't mean 'loaded anyway, but told to behave'.

We use Google Consent Mode v2. Advertising signals are set to denied permanently, because scoop runs no advertising pixels. If that ever changes we will ask you again rather than reuse a yes you gave for something narrower.

Where the data goes

Google Analytics data is processed by Google Ireland Limited, with a data processing agreement in place. Google may transfer data to the United States under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.

We have switched off data sharing with other Google products and Google Signals, so your visit is not used to build advertising profiles. We do not sell or pass on visitor data.

Changing your mind

Use the buttons at the top of this page. Refusing stops further measurement immediately and takes full effect after a reload.

You can also clear cookies and site data in your browser, which resets everything including your language preference.
